Uploading your project files is the first step to unlocking CIM Build’s analysis tools. The platform accepts PDF files — including architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, as well as specifications and reports. You can upload files directly from your computer, or import them from a connected Procore or Google Drive account.

Upload contexts

Every upload requires you to choose a context that tells CIM Build where the files sit in the document lifecycle. Choose the context that matches the stage of your project.
Use Tender Set to upload your initial tender drawings or documents. This is typically your first upload for a new project, and it forms the foundation for the contract set.

How to upload

1

Open Upload in the sidebar

Open your project and click Upload in the left sidebar.
2

Choose your upload context

Select the context that matches your files: Tender Set, Addendum, Contract Set, or Revision.
3

Select the file type

Choose either Drawings or Documents. CIM Build applies different processing pipelines to each type, so selecting the correct option matters.
4

Add your files

Drag and drop your PDF files into the upload zone, or click to browse your computer. You can also import directly from Procore or Google Drive if those integrations are connected. For drawings, you can drag entire folders — CIM Build will find the PDFs inside automatically.
5

Assign a revision set

Select a revision set for the upload. You can create a new one (for example, “Rev A” or “Addendum 01”) or add the files to an existing set.
6

Assign disciplines

For drawing uploads, assign a discipline to each file using the dropdown in the file table. To apply the same discipline to multiple files at once, select them and use the bulk action.
7

Start processing

Click Process new revision set (or Process upload for documents) to begin processing. A progress overlay will appear showing upload status. You can minimise it and continue working — it floats in the bottom-right corner until the upload is complete.
CIM Build only accepts PDF files. If you drag a non-PDF file into the upload zone, you’ll see a warning asking you to convert it first.

Tips

  • CIM Build will flag files that look like documents when you’re uploading drawings (and vice versa), so you can move them to the correct upload before processing.
  • After uploading, head to the Status page to monitor processing progress and confirm that all files have been ingested correctly.
  • Check file discipline assignments before processing — accurate disciplines improve search, filtering, and analysis results across your project.
