The Change Register compares two sets of drawing revisions and identifies everything that has been added, removed, or modified between them. This gives you a structured, auditable record of scope changes as the design evolves — including cost data for each change — so you can stay on top of variation claims and review obligations throughout the project.

Detecting changes

1

Open the Change Register

Click Change Register in the left sidebar.
2

Select the two revision sets to compare

Use the document set selectors at the top of the page to choose which two revisions you want to compare — for example, Rev A versus Rev B. Each selector shows all revision sets available for your project.
3

Run the comparison

Click Detect Changes. CIM Build analyses the selected sets, compares their drawings, and populates the register with all detected changes. Depending on the number of drawings, this may take a few moments.

Reviewing changes

The register supports two viewing modes. Switch between them using the view selector at the top of the register.
Changes are grouped by drawing and discipline. Expand any drawing section to drill into individual changes. Each change card shows:
  • Type — whether the change is an addition, removal, or modification
  • Description — a summary of what changed
  • Location — where on the drawing the change occurred
  • Cost data — associated cost impact for the change
  • Assignee — the team member responsible for reviewing it
  • Status — the current review state of the change

Filtering changes

A filter summary banner appears at the top of the list when filters are active, so you always know which changes you are looking at.
  • Use the Status filter to show only added, removed, or modified items.
  • Apply or clear saved filters from the filter bar to quickly switch between common filter combinations.
  • Use the search field to find specific changes by keyword.

Managing changes

Updating individual changes Each change card has a status selector. Set the status of any change to:
  • Pending — awaiting review
  • Approved — reviewed and accepted
  • Dismissed — not applicable or rejected
Bulk actions Use the bulk action controls to approve or dismiss multiple changes at once — useful when reviewing a large revision set after a significant design update. Cost Register Open the Cost Register tab to see a structured table of all cost items broken down by discipline. Each row shows the quantity, unit price, and total cost impact, giving you a consolidated view of the financial exposure from the current revision comparison.

Exporting

Click Export Changes to generate a PDF report of the full change register. The export includes all change details, statuses, and cost data in a format suitable for sharing with your team or attaching to a variation claim.
